Our Pet Relocation Process
John Mason International prides itself in looking after the entire family throughout the international removals process. From the youngest, to the fluffiest members, we can help! As a family business, we appreciate more than anyone, that your four legged friend is a much-loved member of your family and our experienced Pet Relocation Division dedicated to providing you with the highest levels of service to ensure that your pet’s move is as smooth and as stress-free as possible.
Our aim is simple; throughout the entirety of your removals overseas we want to exceed your expectations and offer the best pet relocation services available.
Generally, all we need is between one and six weeks’ notice (depending on the nature and destination of your move), and we’ll arrange everything needed for your pet′s travel plan.
For overseas removals from the UK, we usually collect pets a day or 2 before their trip and bring them to our facilities close to Heathrow, Gatwick, Glasgow or Manchester airports. Our vet will then examine them for their Export Health Certificate, which means they are fit to fly. Our team will take care of all the necessary Exports and Customs paperwork to make sure your pet is all ready to go.

FAQs
How do I transport my pet internationally?
To transport pets internationally, you need to contact the embassy or consulate of the destination country to determine pet travel regulations. Obtain all necessary paperwork such as health certificates and documentation regarding your pet’s travel. Contact your local veterinarian to ensure your pet is in compliance with foreign health regulations.
John Mason International can assist with these processes, ensuring a smooth transition for your pet.
How do pet couriers work?
Pet couriers pick up your pet, transport them to the airport, arrange all the travel details, ensure your pet is safe and secure on the plane, retrieve your pet when they land at their destination, and kennel them until they can be retrieved or drop them off at their new home. John Mason International provides similar services, ensuring your pet’s comfort and safety throughout the journey.
Should you feed your pet before flight?
It is recommended to feed pets more than 4 hours prior to being picked up from their home or arriving at the airport. This gives your pet enough time to digest their food and, hopefully, pee and poop before going into their travel kennel
Do airlines check if pets can stand in the carrier?
Yes, airlines do have regulations in place to ensure that the pet carriers meet certain criteria for the well-being of the animals. Your pet should be able to stand and turn around comfortably inside their carrier.
How stressful is flying for pets?
Flying can be very stressful for pets, especially for puppies, older dogs, and dogs with behavioural challenges. Their stress response is totally reasonable. They’re in an unfamiliar environment, placed in a cramped crate, and separated from their owners if they have to fly in the cargo hold. John Mason International aims to make this process as stress-free as possible for your pet.
