This past Tuesday, Simon Hood, owner of John Mason International, attended an exclusive royal reception for the recipients of the King’s Award for Enterprise, hosted by His Majesty King Charles III at Windsor Castle.
In addition to King Charles III, the event was graced by other members of the royal family, including Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, and Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, along with his wife, the Duchess of Gloucester, adding to the grandeur of the occasion.
Held at the historic Windsor Castle, the day began with the ceremonial Changing of the Guard before guests entered the historic castle grounds, making their way through to the magnificent St George’s Hall. Known for its grandeur and historical significance, the hall features the coats of arms of every Knight of the Garter since 1348, as well as the armoured figure of ‘The King’s Champion’.
Simon Hood had the profound honour of personally speaking with King Charles III about the rich history and future of John Mason International, while expressing his deep gratitude for the King’s enduring support of the Prince’s Trust. Reflecting on the experience, Simon remarked, ‘Meeting His Majesty and discussing the legacy and journey of John Mason International was unforgettable. I also took the opportunity to thank the King for his role in creating The Prince’s Trust, which played a pivotal role in my professional journey. I am deeply thankful for its impact.’ The King’s response, ‘What a story – well done and congratulations,‘ is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team.’
The reception also welcomed Jonathan Reynolds, the new Business Secretary, who acknowledged the achievements of the businesses present. King Charles III commended the entrepreneurs and executives, stating to the Business Secretary, ‘They represent the best of British.’ This sentiment was echoed throughout the event, highlighting the achievements and contributions of the award-winning businesses.
Simon Hood also had the honour of speaking with other members of the royal family, including the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent. Reflecting on the experience, Simon noted, “It was a momentous occasion to spend time with the King and other royals, and to be recognised for our contributions. The privilege of entering parts of Windsor Castle usually closed to the public made the day even more special Being part of such a prestigious gathering is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. This recognition inspires us to continue striving for excellence in all we do.”
Later this year, the Lord-Lieutenant, one of the King’s representatives, will visit John Mason International to officially present the King’s Award for Enterprise to the company and meet with its employees. This visit will mark another significant milestone in the company’s storied history and provide an opportunity to celebrate with employees.
