If you are moving to Brazil from the UK, we can provide full door to door International Tranport Services for your household effects to Brazil. Please see below for specific customs information relating to your move to Brazil.
Moving to Brazil: Importing your Household Goods
You must have a residence visa in place in order to clear your goods through customs in Brazil.
We are not able to ship your items if you do not have a visa as the goods will not be able to enter the country and port / airport fees will be charged by the port authorities.
You must be in the country for your goods to clear customs. In addition, Brazilian law requires that the shipment arrives in Brazil no longer than six months after the shipper has arrived in the country.
Your Move Manager will need the following documents from you in order to clear customs in Brazil:
- Customer ID card or protocol, Brazilian Social Security (CIC ) or protocol.
- Power of attorney.
The above documents are needed in order for your Move Manager to perform the pre-registration (credenciamento) with the Customs Authorities in Brazil.
Electronic Equipment
All electric and electronic equipment must be listed on the Packing Inventory with the make, model and serial number stated also to avoid delays to your shipment.
Brazilians Returning Home
If you are a Brazilian national and are returning home, you are able to import your household items tax free as long as you have lived overseas for at least one year. You will need to provide proof of residence abroad, either a declaration from the Brazilian Consulate in your host country or utility bills from the last thirteen months (in the shipper’s name).
Moving to Brazil Under a Temporary Visa
If you are moving to Brazil with a temporary visa, you will need to make sure that you export all of the items which you have imported upon leaving the country or when your visa expires. Tax will be charged on items which are not exported (50-86% of the declared value).
Please note that regulations can change on a regular basis so please contact us if you require further information regarding your move to Brazil. A full Customs Guide to Brazil is available upon request.
