Armed Forces Covenant & Defence Employer Recognition Scheme

John Mason International is proud to be a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming our dedication to supporting those who serve or have served in the UK Armed Forces, along with their families. This pledge reflects our belief that service personnel, veterans, reservists, and military families deserve fairness, respect, and equal opportunities in every aspect of life.

We are also honoured to have received the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), which celebrates organisations that go above and beyond to support the Armed Forces community. This recognition highlights our commitment to being a Forces-friendly employer and fostering a workplace culture that values service, dedication, and community.

Our Signing Ceremony: A Milestone for John Mason International

On April 23rd, 2025, John Mason International officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant at our Liverpool headquarters. The ceremony was attended by Lieutenant Commander Tom Pinfold RN, Jan Cox QVRM WO1 (Retd), Defence Relationship Manager, and our Executive Director Simon Hood.

During the event, we were awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award in recognition of our support to veterans and reservists. The day included a tour of our facilities, demonstrating how our family-led, people-first approach aligns with our commitment to care and service.

Understanding the Armed Forces Covenant and Our Commitment

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise that those who serve in the UK Armed Forces, and their families, will be treated fairly and given equal opportunities in civilian life. At John Mason International, we honour this commitment by ensuring our recruitment, workplace culture, and services welcome and support members of the Armed Forces community.

Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award: What It Means

The ERS Bronze Award celebrates our formal pledge to encourage positive practices for defence personnel and inspire others to do the same. Holding this award means we have:

  • Signed the Armed Forces Covenant and registered our support
  • Confirmed our understanding of the needs of the Armed Forces community
  • Informed our staff of our commitment to treating service personnel fairly
  • Reviewed HR frameworks to support reservists and cadets, including additional leave policies and fair recruitment processes

John Mason International’s Proud History of Supporting the Armed Forces

At John Mason International, supporting the Armed Forces is part of our DNA. Our roots go back over a century, when we donated horses for military use during the First World War and played a key role in evacuations throughout the Second World War. This tradition of service continues today, as we proudly signed the Armed Forces Covenant in Liverpool, witnessed by representatives from the Royal Navy and Ministry of Defence.

Our company’s culture has long been shaped by respect, care, and a drive to stand together with those who serve. A vital part of this commitment is our active support for Helping Homeless Veterans UK, a charity dedicated to rehousing and supporting veterans facing homelessness and hardship. By partnering with this organisation, we help provide practical aid and hope to those who have served our country but find themselves in vulnerable situations

How John Mason International Supports the Armed Forces Community

  • All ex-military applicants are guaranteed an interview, helping open doors to new careers.
  • We offer discounted international removals to service members, veterans, and their families as a thank you for their service.
  • John Mason International is actively involved in supporting veteran charities, including Helping Homeless Veterans UK.
  • We encourage other organisations to support the Armed Forces Covenant, believing that local action drives national change.
