We handle all the details so your relocation is smooth, efficient, and worry-free from start to finish.
We offer sea freight shipping services and air freight services if you are planning an International Removal to Guatemala. If you are moving to Guatemala, you will need to obtain a quotation for your move. You can do this by either contacting us with a list of what you would like to ship (for small shipments) or arranging a free, pre-move survey (for full house moves). We will then provide a quotation for your move to Guatemala.
If you choose to accept our quotation, we will then allocate a Move Manager to you who will provide all of the necessary support throughout your relocation. They will arrange moving dates with you, advise on the relevant customs requirements for Guatemala, co-ordinate the packing and shipping of your household effects and will be responsible for your move until the final stage of the process.
If you have any questions at all during your move to Guatemala, contact your Move Manager who will be able to assist you and provide advice and guidance.

Career Opportunities in Guatemala
Guatemala’s growing economy provides opportunities in coffee exports, tourism, textiles, renewable energy, and NGO work, especially in Guatemala City, Antigua, and Quetzaltenango. English-speaking expats often secure positions in international organisations, eco-tourism ventures, remote freelancing, or teaching English. A move from the UK to Guatemala fits those drawn to cultural immersion, entrepreneurial setups, and affordable living with access to Central American markets.
Studying in Guatemala
Guatemala features notable universities like Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC), Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG), and Universidad Mariano Gálvez, offering programs in business, agronomy, social sciences, and Spanish language studies. International students appreciate low tuition fees, immersive Spanish environments, and campus life near volcanoes and colonial towns. Those using relocation services to Guatemala can integrate studies with exploration of Mayan ruins, lakes, and highland markets.
Culture, Markets and Festivals
Life revolves around bustling markets in Chichicastenango for textiles and crafts, street food like pepián and tamales, and lively fiestas with marimba bands and dances. Antigua’s colonial cobblestones host coffee tastings, art galleries, and Semana Santa processions, while Guatemala City offers cinemas, live music, and modern malls for casual socialising with locals and fellow expats.
Nature, Adventure and Relaxation
Outdoor enthusiasts hike Acatenango Volcano for fiery sunrises, swim in Atitlán Lake, or explore Semuc Champey’s turquoise pools and caves. Lake weekends involve kayaking or paddleboarding amid volcanoes, while birdwatching in Biotopo del Quetzal or coffee finca tours provide serene retreats. Families enjoy Semuc Champey picnics, zip-lining, or relaxing at hot springs near Quetzaltenango.
You will need to obtain a Tax Identification Number (Número de Identificación Tributaria: NIT) in order to ship to Guatemala. All expatriates or returning Guatemalans must obtain this number. It is avaliable from the Finance Ministry in Guatemala (Superintendencia de Administración Tributaria).
You must supply your original passport and a full copy of your passport. You will then be provided with an application form to complete. Please note that it is possible to use your company’s address / employer’s address on the Application Form if you do not have a permanent residence address at the time of application. The above process usually takes one day.
You must provide your Move Manager with your NIT Card Number and a copy of your passport for presentation to the Customs Authorities in Guatemala in order to import your items into the country.
The above information has been provided by our destination agent in Guatemala, a LACMA (Latin American and Caribbean Movers Association) member.
Please note that regulations can change on a regular basis so please contact us if you require further information regarding your move to Guatemala. A full Customs Guide to Guatemala is available upon request.
