  • 30kg luggage: 80cm x 56cm x 33cm

  • 20kg box: 46cm x 46cm x 46cm

  • 30kg box: 60cm x 50cm x 50cm

Approved Packaging and Preparation

Pack your items securely in a sturdy suitcase or a brand new double-walled box ready for international travel; duffle bags are not accepted for luggage shipments. These standards align with our professional export packing practices, utilising high-quality materials to protect your belongings during overseas transit, much like our BAR-accredited teams do for full removals. After booking, print your shipping label. For international shipments, complete your customs forms online and print the documents in advance.

When to Consider other Shipping Options

Shipping more than 10 small boxes or bags? Our excess baggage shipping service is perfect for lighter loads, but for larger household removals, upgrade to John Mason’s container shipping solutions, groupage or full container loads, for greater capacity and value.

Groupage (LCL – Less than Container Load) combines your belongings with other customers’ consignments in a shared 20ft or 40ft container. This cost-effective option suits partial moves, like a few rooms’ worth of goods, with professional loading, customs clearance, and door-to-door delivery included.

Full Container Load (FCL) dedicates an entire 20ft or 40ft container exclusively to your items, ideal for complete household relocations. It offers maximum protection, faster transit times, and no shared space risks.

When sending within the same country, or between countries that are members of the European Union, your shipment will not require customs clearance.

If you are sending internationally between countries that are not both member states of the European Union your shipment will be subject to customs clearance and you will be required to complete a pro forma invoice detailing the contents and estimated used value of your goods for customs purposes.

You will be asked to fill this out once you have placed your booking.  To avoid delays, customs documentation should also be attached securely to your luggage or box so that it is clearly visible to the customs authority.

As the owner of the goods, you are responsible for providing any extra customs information that the clearance team ask for whilst the goods are being inspected. Our courier partners may reach out to you to discuss the customs requirements in order to clear the goods so please keep an eye out for emails getting caught in your junk folder and calls from unknown numbers while your goods are in transit. We also recommend visiting the destination country’s official customs website and make yourself aware of any requirements, processes or fees, which may be due based on your personal circumstances and what you are shipping.

Please ensure your items are packaged in either a suitcase or brand new doubled walled box ready to travel. We cannot ship duffle bags as luggage shipments.

You will need to print your label and if you have an international shipment, you will need to complete your customs forms online and print your customs documents.
